Bytecode Viewer 2026

It’s that time of the year again - happy holidays, and happy new year!
BCV 2026 is officially out - this version contains bug fixes and dependency updates since BCV 2025
I’ve introduced a new naming scheme for this release, every year I’ll be releasing BCV on January 1st. This will be part of our annual release schedule - excluding any major features that get added, they will prompt a new release when they are ready.
Any of the beta features that were added in 2024-2025 are now considered to be out of beta. Like usual, please report any issues you encounter, but I believe they should hold up long term. The thanks and credits all go to everyone who helped out with adding new features, or introducing code that sped up, or fixed the program. A lot of these features and fixes would not be here without their contributions.
One major change in this release, is the obfuscator has been removed. I think the concept was too confusing, as the idea of it dates back to when I would re-obfuscate heavily obfuscated jar files in an effort to help make the names easier to work with.
Eventually I want to re-introduce the idea by using obfuscation maps. Instead of being part of the obfuscation tooling, this would be part of the deobfuscation tooling - so it’s a bit more obvious what the intended usage is for.
